Taylor River Rd - Gunnison County Rd 742 follows the Taylor River from Almont to Taylor Park Reservoir. There are a number of campgrounds along the road. Watch for deer, elk, moose, & bighorn sheep along the way. The road is paved all the way past the reservoir to Taylor Park Trading Post and is kept clear in the winter time. Taylor Park is a popular spot for ice fishing and snowmobiling. Co Rd 742 also leads to Co Rd 209 for access to Cottonwood Pass & Buena Vista. The old mining town of Tincup is a 10 minute drive from the trading post.
Spring Creek Rd - Turn left onto County Rd 744 from County Rd 742 by Harmel's Resort. Spring Creek Reservoir is about 30 minutes down the road. Mosca Campground is located on the south side of Spring Creek Reservoir. The dirt road is a little bumpy, but overall in good shape. Easily accessible in a car.
Jack's Cabin Cutoff - County Rd 813 (Closed in Winter) This 4.5 mile road connects County Rd 742 to CO 135 north of Almont. It is the shortcut between Crested Butte & Taylor Park.
Ohio Creek - County Rd 730 west of CO 135 follows Ohio Creek to Ohio Pass and on to the Kebler Pass area west of Crested Butte. Great views and plenty of wildflowers in the summer months.
Kebler Pass - County Rd 12 west out of Crested Butte about 15 miles. One of the largest aspen groves in the United States is located near Kebler Pass. This is a very popular area in the fall. Road is closed in winter.
Blue Mesa Reservoir & Curecanti National Rec Area
Head west of Gunnison on US Highway 50 to the Curecanti National Recreation Area.
